Scholarship Application Closed
The scholarship application period closed on April 1 and is no longer accepting submissions.

Scholarship recipients will be announced at our June membership meeting.
Please check back in 2027 when the next application cycle opens.

How the UFCW Local 7

Scholarship Program works

Union Membership Required

The UFCW Local 7 member associated with the applicant must be:

  • A member in good standing for at least one year prior to April 1, 2026, or

  • A retiree in good standing for one year from their official retirement date

Eligible applicants include the member’s:
✔ Spouse
✔ Children
✔ Grandchildren
✔ Legal wards
✔ Lifetime retirees and their dependents

Eligibility Requirements

To apply for the 2026 UFCW Local 7 Scholarships, applicants must meet at least one of the following:

  • A graduating high school senior in 2026, or

  • Currently enrolled or planning to enroll in:

    • A college or university

    • An accredited technical or trade school

    • An accredited online degree or certificate program

  • Applicants may be full‑time or part‑time students.

  • Applicants must not be classified as “probationary students.”

Application Requirements

Your application must include all of the following:

1. Completed Scholarship Application Form

Fill out every section completely and legibly.

2. Essay (Minimum 500 words)

Requirements:

  • Minimum 500 words, typewritten

  • Include research, citations, and sources

  • Judging criteria:

    • Quality and originality of content

    • Clarity and grammar

    • Documentation of resources

    • Personal merit, leadership, and demonstrated union values

3. Academic & Enrollment Verification Form

Must be completed by:

  • Your high school principal or counselor, or

  • Your college/university/technical school admissions office

They must verify your graduation or enrollment.

4. Authorization for Release of Information

  • Applicant must sign

  • If under age 18, parent/legal guardian must also sign

5. Letter of Recommendation

Must be written by a community member you respect, such as:

  • Teacher/professor

  • Coach

  • Counselor

  • Pastor/clergy

  • Supervisor

  • Community leader

Submission Instructions

All materials must be postmarked, emailed, or faxed by April 1, 2026.
Late submissions will not be accepted.

Scholarship Awards

  • One (1) award of $3,000

  • Two (2) awards of $2,000

  • Six (6) awards of $1,000

Winners will be notified in writing by July 31, 2026.
Scholarship funds are paid directly to the school.
Recipients are encouraged to attend a local membership meeting to receive their certificate.
